Onaje Muid

Onaje Muid, a transformative, Sufi social worker/ activist has a thirty-year career which combined human services, human rights, and spirituality, especially for descendants of formerly enslaved Africans and indigenous peoples in the Western Hemisphere. He is the creator of the Saba Uhuru Saba Ujija Healing System and the SEEDS Garden Network. He has served as an advisor to graduate students at  Columbia University School of Social Work and taught as an adjunct lecturer.  His United Nations work culminated in the declaring the Transatlantic Slave Trade as a crime against humanity at the seminal United Nations World Conference Against Racism, in Durban, South African, of which he was a delegate (2001).

Onaje holds a master’s degree in social work, is a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor and licensed mental health counselor, and holds a family development leadership credentialed, all via New York State.  He has focused his life’s work on researching and understanding historical trauma in the oppressed communities and creating the healing modalities, policies, and structures to alleviate it.

He is a member of the Sufi Healing Order and the Inayati Order.
