Through her unique perspective as a 6o’s Scoop and cultural storytelling, she will challenge hidden bias, and systemic beliefs, while opening the door to new ways of thinking. As an Indigenous Keynote Speaker, she aims to help individuals and organizations to expand their knowledge, connection, and understanding of indigenous issues, including cultural appropriation. She has presented to Public and Catholic School boards, Post-secondary Institutes, Hospitals, and Mental Health organizations.
She is a lifelong learner studying Policing Foundations, Human Resources, Social Service Work, and continues Indigenous Social Work education. Since retirement Cathy has become a Reiki Master, Therapeutic Touch, and Meditation Practitioner. She both hosts and attends weekly Talking/Sharing Circles, learning language, culture, and ceremonies of the Anishinaabe.
